Hoover City Schools has announced the promotion of Kelli Lane as the new Chief Technology Officer, taking over from Bryan Phillips who has retired. Lane has over 20 years of experience in educational technology and has been with Hoover City Schools since 2014. She has led innovative technology initiatives in classrooms, promoted data-driven decision-making, and provided professional development to strengthen the technology department.
Superintendent Kevin Maddox praised Lane’s leadership, vision, and impact on the technology department. Lane has received awards for her contributions to classroom technology integration and commitment to educational technology innovation. As the vice president of professional learning for ALET, Lane has led the design and implementation of certification programs for technology leaders in the state and is a member of the Google for Education Advisory Board.
In her new role, Lane will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating technology initiatives districtwide, managing technology budgets, and overseeing technology infrastructure and instructional tools. Lane expressed her excitement to continue collaborating with the team to drive innovative solutions in classrooms and support educators in utilizing technology to inspire students.
Lane holds degrees in early childhood and elementary education, educational technology leadership, and certifications as a Google Administrator, Google Educator, chief technology officer, and technology integration coach. Her appointment as Chief Technology Officer reflects her dedication to advancing technology in education and supporting the educational community.
