Long Beach is gearing up for the ultimate taco showdown with the inaugural Taco Death Match event on November 2nd. Ten local taco makers will compete in a day-long competition in downtown Long Beach, creating one-of-a-kind tacos dedicated to deceased loved ones as part of the Day of the Dead celebration.
Among the competitors are respected chefs and taco makers, including food trucks and restaurants like Asadero Chikali and Bar Becky, owned by “Hell’s Kitchen” runner-up Chef Johnathan Benvenuti. The tacos will be paired with beer from local breweries and judged by professionals and festival attendees.
The event will also feature live music from cumbia and mariachi bands, creating a festive atmosphere to enjoy the culinary creations and craft beers. The participating breweries have recently won gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival, adding to the excitement of the event.
Tickets for Taco Death Match range from $15 to $150 and can be purchased online. This unique event promises to bring exciting new flavors and taco creations to the Long Beach community, making it a must-attend for taco lovers and food enthusiasts alike.
