The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their first loss of the season to the Phoenix Suns with a final score of 109-105 at Footprint Center on Monday night. Despite strong performances from Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura, the Lakers couldn’t secure the win. Davis ended his 30-point streak with 29 points and 15 rebounds, while Reaves scored 23 points and Hachimura added 20 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James struggled with only 11 points on 3-of-14 shooting.
Devin Booker led the Suns with 33 points, and Kevin Durant contributed 30 points to the win. The Lakers initially held a significant lead in the first quarter, opening a 31-15 advantage, but the Suns fought back with defensive intensity. The Lakers struggled during Davis’ breaks in the first and second quarters, allowing the Suns to take a 50-48 lead at halftime.
Although the Lakers won the third quarter with strong performances from Reaves, Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell, they faltered at the start of the fourth quarter, allowing the Suns to take a 90-86 lead. Despite a late rally, missed opportunities, including a crucial three-pointer by Reaves, prevented the Lakers from closing the gap.
The Lakers will look to bounce back from this loss as they continue their season. Stay tuned for more updates on their upcoming games.
