Upcoming Community Meetings in the San Fernando Valley: Oct. 28-Nov. 4

The Mystery and Thriller Book Club at Studio City Branch Library will be meeting on Oct. 30, providing book lovers with the opportunity to discuss Amy Chua’s “The Golden Gate.” Community meetings like this offer a chance for people to come together and share ideas and experiences.

In addition to book clubs, there are numerous community events happening in the San Fernando Valley area. On Oct. 28, Wings Over Wendy’s will be hosting a gathering for veterans and their supporters, providing a space for camaraderie and connection. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Los Altos Foods and Vallarta Supermarkets are teaming up to offer free mammograms for those in need. There is also an opportunity to support children in the hospital by sending them Halloween greeting cards through Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Volunteers Cleaning Communities is also looking for people to join them in upcoming clean-up projects. Those interested can find more information on their website.

Looking ahead to November, the California Writers Club, the Sherman Oaks Woman’s Club, and the National Active Retired Federal Employees Association will be hosting events for prospective members and interested individuals. There will also be opportunities to discuss nonfiction books, participate in fundraisers, and enjoy local farmers markets.

These events aim to bring the community together, provide support, and create memorable experiences for all who participate. For more information on upcoming events or to submit information for future coverage, contact Holly Andres at holly.andres@dailynews.com or 818-713-3708.
