Richard Allen Trial Update: What Occurred This Week?

In Indiana, Richard Allen was charged with the murder of two middle school students, Liberty German and Abigail Williams, in a case that was linked back to a tip he provided five years earlier. Allen had mentioned to an investigator that he was in the area on the day of the girls’ murder, but this information was mistakenly marked as clear and overlooked until a volunteer clerk rediscovered it in 2022.

During the trial, Allen’s defense argued his innocence, suggesting the killings could have been part of a ritual sacrifice and questioning the prosecution’s timeline and witness testimonies. One witness, Railly Voorhies, identified Allen as the man she had seen on the trail the day of the murder after viewing a Snapchat video showing a man on a bridge matching her description.

Investigators initially overlooked Allen in their search for the suspect known as “the bridge guy,” who was seen in the video on Abigail’s phone. However, after the tip resurfaced, authorities interviewed Allen again and discovered a gun in his possession that was matched to a bullet found near the victims’ bodies. This evidence, along with witness accounts, led to Allen’s arrest.

Despite some discrepancies in the witness descriptions and Allen’s account of the events, authorities were able to use the information provided by the volunteer clerk to connect Allen to the murders. Ballistics experts confirmed the match between the bullet and Allen’s handgun, supporting the prosecution’s case against him.
