In the opening game of the 2024 World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, a major drama occurred in the top of the ninth inning with the score tied 2-2. New York’s Gleyber Torres hit what appeared to be a go-ahead home run, but a fan interfered with the ball, causing Torres to be sent back to second base after a review. The Dodgers went on to win the game 6-3 in the bottom of the 10th inning with a walk-off home run by Freddie Freeman. The fan who interfered was escorted out of the stadium by security, drawing comparisons to past fan interference incidents. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called Freeman’s home run the greatest baseball moment he had witnessed. Game 2 is set for Saturday night, with the Yankees starting Carlos Rodón and the Dodgers starting Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
