The ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza has resulted in the deaths of many journalists, with Israel facing accusations of intentionally targeting media personnel. The Committee to Protect Journalists reported that 128 journalists have been killed in Gaza during Israel’s offensive. Israel has accused journalists working with Al Jazeera of being affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which has been refuted by CPJ and the network itself. In Gaza, Israeli strikes have killed 38 people in Khan Younis, with chaos ensuing at the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia where patients and medical staff have been detained. The World Health Organization expressed concern over the situation at the hospital, which has treated over 200 patients and provided shelter to displaced Palestinians. COGAT, Israel’s military liaison with the Palestinians, facilitated the transfer of patients and supplies to the hospital but did not address the reported raid at the facility. The IDF continues its offensive in Gaza, targeting areas such as the Jabalia refugee camp and a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, resulting in the deaths of civilians including children and women. The IDF claimed it targeted Hamas militants in the school compound but made efforts to avoid harming civilians. Meanwhile, in London, US Secretary of State Blinken met with Jordan’s foreign minister who criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza, accusing the country of “ethnic cleansing” and questioning Washington’s influence over the Israeli government.
