After the Dodgers clinched their spot in the World Series against the New York Yankees, ticket prices soared on Monday with the cheapest ticket on StubHub going for $1,326. However, by the day of Game 1, prices had dropped to $823 on Friday morning, a 38% decrease from earlier in the week. The Dodgers’ website also had scattered tickets available for a minimum of $945.
The tickets available are primarily for seats high up in the reserve level, often near a foul pole, and are not the best seats in the house. However, for fans eager to attend the game, the drop in prices on Friday offered a more affordable option compared to earlier in the week.
The Dodgers use analytics to anticipate demand and set ticket prices accordingly, controlling much of their resale market. The team adjusts prices based on supply and demand, sometimes leading to overpriced tickets and other times resulting in underpriced tickets.
Despite the high prices, the drop in prices for Game 1 tickets on Friday made attending the game slightly more affordable for fans. While none of the tickets are cheap, the slight decrease in prices for some of the less desirable seats made it a bit more accessible for fans looking to experience the thrill of the World Series in person.
