There are nine candidates vying for two open seats on the West Hollywood City Council


In the upcoming Nov. 5 election, two council members will be elected to the five-member West Hollywood City Council. Incumbent council member/mayor John M. Erickson is running against several challengers, including Larry Block, Jordan Cockeram, Danny Hang, Dorian J. Jackson, Stefanie LaHart, George Nickle, William West Seegmiller, and Zekiah “Z” Wright.

Larry Block, a business owner and publisher of WehoOnline, is focused on public safety and assisting seniors and disabled persons. Jordan Cockeram aims to restore the Sheriff’s budget and support businesses. John M. Erickson, the current mayor, has priorities that include building more affordable housing and implementing inclusive policies. Danny Hang works with disabled individuals and is focused on addressing issues affecting people with disabilities. Dorian J. Jackson is focused on expanding educational resources and providing housing for unhoused individuals.

Stefanie LaHart, a businesswoman, is focusing on homelessness and mental health issues. George Nickle, a public safety commissioner, is prioritizing public safety and affordable housing. William West Seegmiller is a radio host advocating for affordable housing and supporting local businesses. Zekiah “Z” Wright, a small business owner and lawyer, is advocating for affordable housing and the support of local businesses.

If elected, Zekiah “Z” Wright will be the first Black and non-binary member of the West Hollywood City Council. Their goals include reducing the costs of building affordable housing and incentivizing developers to create more affordable units. Wright also aims to support local businesses and address the issue of vacant storefronts. Overall, the upcoming election presents a diverse group of candidates with various backgrounds and priorities for the West Hollywood City Council.
