At 92 years old, Hank Ameen is the longest-serving Disney employee at Disneyland, with over 62 years of service. Ameen first visited Disneyland on his honeymoon in 1955, just after it opened. His bartending skills helped him land a job as a Jungle Cruise skipper in 1958, and he eventually became a Disneyland firefighter, a role he continues to hold two days a week.
Ameen’s active lifestyle, which includes swimming, working out, and participating in Disneyland races, has allowed him to maintain his career. He enjoys working at Disneyland because he feels like he is protecting the magic of the park. A highlight of his time at Disneyland was having lunch with Walt Disney himself.
Recently, Ameen helped the Disneyland firefighters win the annual employee canoe race, adopting the motto “Win one for Hank.” He has met several Disney executives over the years and has no plans to retire, as long as he can continue to smile and laugh.
Ameen’s dedication and positive outlook on life have made him a beloved figure at Disneyland. His commitment to his work and his colleagues have earned him respect and admiration throughout the company.
