Displaced Palestinians in Gaza have been hit by artillery shells while trying to escape Israeli strikes, with some even being killed after fleeing to Gaza City. Among the victims were two young children, one of whom had his stomach torn open in a drone strike. The death toll in Gaza, which has been ongoing for over a year, stands at more than 42,700, with many more feared dead and buried under rubble. The Israeli offensive in northern Gaza has been accused of ethnic cleansing by Palestinian health officials and human rights groups. Meanwhile, Israeli settlers and ministers have called for the resettlement of Gaza, even as the United States expresses frustration over Israel’s actions. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has warned Israeli officials about the lack of aid entering the besieged enclave and denied the adoption of plans for the reoccupation of Gaza or the evacuation of northern residents through starvation. Images of civilians fleeing Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza have raised alarms, with concerns about a dire humanitarian crisis in the area. The detention of dozens of men in northern Gaza by the IDF has also drawn criticism, with questions raised about the well-being of those detained, including any children among them. UN officials have highlighted the struggle to provide food, water, and medical care to civilians in the area.
