An 8-year-old girl in Colorado bravely fought back against an intruder wearing a clown mask who tried to kidnap her during a break-in at her family’s home. The suspect, Thomas Gallegos, 56, was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, assault, child abuse, and burglary. The incident occurred in Sterling, northeast of Denver. Court documents reveal that Gallegos had helped install a washer and dryer for the family just two days before the break-in.
The affidavit shows that the man, believed to be Gallegos, entered the girl’s room, blindfolded her, and struck her in the head when she fought back, leaving her unconscious. The victim’s injuries included a contusion to her right eye and a laceration to the back of her head that needed staples. A clown mask and gloves were found in the girl’s room, and investigators linked Gallegos to the crime through security video and location data from the girl’s phone.
Gallegos denied the allegations to police, but his wife confirmed that he was captured on security video near the victim’s home at the time of the break-in. She also stated that the clown mask seen in the footage belonged to their grandson. Gallegos’ wife and lawyer have not commented on the case. The investigation is ongoing, and Gallegos faces serious charges for his alleged actions.
