Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, who was recently indicted on new charges, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and is currently receiving treatment in prison at Rikers Island in New York. He has also recently undergone emergency heart surgery and tested positive for Covid-19 and double pneumonia. Weinstein’s health issues come amidst his legal battle with Manhattan prosecutors over efforts to combine his original 2020 sexual crimes with the new criminal indictment. His New York conviction was overturned this year, but he was convicted of rape in Los Angeles in 2022 and sentenced to 16 years in prison. His legal team is appealing this conviction. Despite his health challenges and legal battles, Weinstein continues to face consequences for his alleged sexual misconduct that fueled the #MeToo movement.
