Elon Musk has donated nearly $75 million to America PAC, a super PAC he created to support former President Donald Trump’s campaign. This makes him one of the top Republican donors this year. Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is the world’s wealthiest person with a net worth of $241 billion. He established America PAC in May and has given $14.95 million in July, $30 million in August, and $30 million in September. The super PAC focuses on voter turnout efforts in swing states like Pennsylvania. Musk’s contributions have been the subject of speculation, with Trump claiming he gave $45 million a month, a figure Musk disputed. Musk has also given smaller amounts to other Republican committees. Few individuals have given more money than Musk to Republican or pro-Trump efforts this year.
Additionally, the filing shows that Musk was the only donor to America PAC during that time period, although in June the super PAC disclosed donations from associates of Musk. America PAC had just under $4 million in cash on hand as of September 30, after spending heavily in the third quarter. Musk’s political giving this year had been a topic of interest, with his donations to pro-Trump efforts now being revealed. Other filings before the November 5 election may show additional donations from Musk or other contributors.
