Next Great Sprinter Chooses Puma Over College Offer

Christian Miller, a high school track star who ran the 100 meters in 9.93 seconds before turning 18, has signed a professional contract with Puma, making him one of the few athletes to bypass NCAA eligibility and go pro straight out of high school. Training in Jacksonville and taking online courses through Liberty University, Miller aims to establish himself as a top sprinter and has his sights set on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. The terms of his multi-year deal with Puma, as well as an endorsement with Oakley, remain undisclosed. Following a successful senior season, Miller believes he can challenge the world under-20 record times. He chose to turn pro rather than attend the University of Georgia, feeling it would help him make a bigger impact in the track and field world. Other athletes like Noah Lyles and Erriyon Knighton have found success by forgoing NCAA eligibility and turning professional early. Miller’s fifth-place finish at the U.S. Olympic trials has given him the confidence to compete at the highest level, and he believes he can keep up with the world’s fastest sprinters. His decision to go pro reflects his ambition to make a mark in the sport while he is in top form and seize the opportunity to compete against the best.
