Bouanga’s goal secures LAFC shutout win against St. Louis City

LAFC defeated St. Louis City 1-0 on Wednesday night, with Denis Bouanga scoring in the first minute of stoppage time with assists from Mateusz Bogusz and Olivier Giroud. This was Bouanga’s 19th goal of the season, putting him just behind Christian Benteke in the Golden Boot race. LAFC’s win was secured with their league-leading 13th clean sheet of the season, thanks to goalkeeper Hugo Lloris who didn’t have to make a save in the match.

Bogusz registered his seventh assist of the season, while Giroud notched his second in seven appearances. Lloris now leads the league in shutouts with one more than Patrick Schulte of FC Cincinnati and Stefan Frei of the Seattle Sounders. St. Louis City’s goalkeeper Benjamin Lundt made five saves in his second start of the season.

With this win, LAFC improved their record to 16-8-7 and will be traveling to play Sporting Kansas City next Saturday, while St. Louis City (7-12-13) will be hosting the Houston Dynamo on the same day. Bouanga and Lloris were instrumental in securing the victory for LAFC, who will be looking to maintain their momentum in the remaining matches of the regular season.
