John Speraw, UCLA coach, appointed as CEO of USA Volleyball – Daily News

John Speraw, the head coach of the UCLA volleyball team and the U.S. Olympic and national team, has resigned to become the president and CEO of USA Volleyball. He will replace Jamie Davis, whose contract was not renewed. Speraw has an impressive coaching record, including two NCAA titles as a Bruins player and coaching UCLA to two more national championships. He has coached the U.S. national team since 2013, leading them to the 2015 World Cup title and bronze medals at the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2018 FIVB World Championships.

Speraw expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead USA Volleyball and is excited about the future of the organization. USA Volleyball’s chairman, David Gentile, praised Speraw’s leadership skills and vision for the sport.

One of Speraw’s first decisions will be whether to keep the U.S. men’s and women’s national team training bases in Orange County. He is the first person to win an NCAA men’s volleyball championship as a head coach, assistant coach, and player. Speraw had a successful coaching career at UCLA with a 243-97 record.

In a statement, Speraw expressed his gratitude to UCLA and looks forward to supporting the team from the stands. He thanked the staff and administration for their support throughout his time at the university. Speraw’s move to USA Volleyball marks a new chapter in his coaching career and is a significant loss for the UCLA volleyball program.
