Daily News: My Experience as a Troubled Clown at Six Flags Fright Fest

Last week, Six Flags Magic Mountain allowed a reporter from the Orange County Register to become a clown scare actor during their Fright Fest Extreme event. The event, which runs on select nights through November 3rd, gave the reporter the chance to dress up as a deranged clown and terrorize visitors in the City Under Siege scare zone.

The reporter, Brady MacDonald, underwent a transformation with the help of makeup artists who applied latex facial applications and colorful makeup. After being fitted with a costume, including a red t-shirt, sparkly pants, and a jacket, Brady was ready to terrify visitors with his clown persona.

Under the guidance of experienced scareactors, Brady learned the ropes of scaring people without touching them or entering prohibited areas. With a plastic gasoline can filled with nuts and bolts for rattling scares, Brady took on the role of Zip, a menacing clown who tormented visitors in the scare zone.

Throughout the night, Brady successfully scared and amused visitors, from making a guy named Hopper jump and scream like a kangaroo to causing a girl in a Gap sweatshirt to flee in fear. The best scare of the night came from a guy named Cassius, who was so frightened that he spilled his soda and ran away.

After a few hours of scaring, Brady reflected on the experience, noting the physical toll it took on his body. Despite the soreness, Brady considered the opportunity to become a clown scareactor at the event as a once-in-a-lifetime experience that he will never forget. The night of clowning at Six Flags Fright Fest left a lasting impression on both Brady and the visitors who encountered him during the event.
