Hezbollah cautions of significant casualties if Israel escalates conflict in Lebanon | Updates from Hezbollah

Hezbollah’s deputy leader, Naim Qassem, has issued a warning to Israel, stating that a full-scale war on Lebanon would result in “large losses on both sides” and displace hundreds of thousands of more Israelis in the country’s north. The warning comes amidst continued tit-for-tat attacks across the Israel-Lebanon border. The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is reportedly considering launching a “broad and strong operation” on the northern border with Lebanon.

The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has been ongoing since Israel’s deadly war on Gaza in October, with near-daily exchanges of fire. Hezbollah has stated that their attacks on Israel are in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and will continue as long as the war persists. Qassem emphasized that Hezbollah has no intention of going to war but will face up to it if Israel unleashes one.

While Israeli officials, including Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, have hinted at a potential escalation with Hezbollah, there is no official confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office. Opposition politicians, including Netanyahu’s main rival Benny Gantz, have called for action against Hezbollah.

Over the years, the Hezbollah-Israel conflict has resulted in casualties on both sides and has displaced tens of thousands of people. Recent attacks and counterattacks have raised tensions, with Israel conducting airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, and Hezbollah claiming multiple attacks on Israeli military sites. The situation remains volatile and the possibility of a full-scale war lingers in the region.
