USA Gymnastics’ beloved therapy dog, Beacon, on the road to recovery from mysterious illness – Daily News

Beacon, a therapy dog known for his cheerful demeanor and devoted service to patients and athletes, is now facing his own health battle. The 4-year-old Golden Retriever was admitted to a local pet hospital after experiencing stiffness, labored breathing, and a fever. Despite initial fears of cancer, doctors have ruled it out, and Beacon is now back home after spending four nights in the hospital. He is awaiting results from tests to determine his diagnosis. While he is limited to short walks and rest, Beacon’s spirit remains strong, as he continues to greet visitors and hold his stuffed animal in his mouth.

Beacon’s owner, Tracey Callahan Molnar, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community, as a GoFundMe page has raised nearly $30,000 to cover his medical expenses. Messages of prayers and well-wishes continue to flood Beacon’s Instagram account, where Molnar updates his 57,000 followers on his condition.

Known for his comforting presence at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and his travels with Molnar to gymnastics competitions across the country, Beacon has touched the hearts of many. His impact led to him being recognized as the USA Gymnastics’ first therapy dog and receiving an official credential of “Goodest Boy” from the team.

As Beacon continues his recovery journey, his resilience and the community’s support serve as a source of hope for his owner and followers. The beloved therapy dog, who has brought smiles to many faces, now finds himself surrounded by the same care and comfort that he has provided to others.
