LOS ANGELES – Jayden Maiava’s journey from his childhood home in Hawaii to becoming a quarterback at USC has been a tumultuous one. Raised in Palolo Valley, Maiava’s family moved to Las Vegas and back to Hawaii before he ended up at Liberty High in Vegas. Despite the challenges and constant relocating, Maiava’s desire to play football persisted.
His recruitment process was rocky, with last-minute changes in decisions. Maiava was set to commit to UNLV but was persuaded by his parents to stick with Liberty High. A late offer from Auburn also didn’t pan out due to family decisions. Finally, after committing to Georgia, Maiava had a change of heart and chose USC to play under coach Lincoln Riley, a decision that surprised many in college football.
Maiava’s time at USC has been marked by hard work and dedication to the game. Despite not being the starting quarterback, he has impressed with his skills and leadership on the field. In a recent game against Utah State, Maiava showed his potential as a quarterback, leading the team to victory with his performance in the fourth quarter.
