The Angels continued their streak of subpar seasons with a 3-1 loss to the Texas Rangers, marking their ninth consecutive losing season. The team has not made the postseason since 2014 and has not had a winning season since 2015. This streak is the longest active streak of sub-.500 finishes in MLB and the longest in the franchise’s history.
Pitcher Jack Kochanowicz struggled in the first inning, giving up a three-run homer to Adolis García, but settled down and held the Rangers scoreless for the next five innings. Despite a late RBI single from Zach Neto, the Angels were unable to overcome the deficit.
Rangers pitcher Cody Bradford was dominant, holding the Angels to just one run on two hits over six innings. After giving up the RBI single to Neto, Bradford retired the final 11 batters he faced.
The Angels bullpen, led by Ryan Zeferjahn, kept the team in the game with a strong performance in relief. Charles Leblanc made a spectacular over-the-shoulder sliding catch to end a potential scoring threat in the eighth inning.
With this loss, the Angels are now 58-82 for the season and are looking ahead to breaking their streak of losing seasons in the future. More updates on the team’s performance will be provided as the season progresses.
