Oney Tapia of Italy won the gold in the men’s F11 shot put, with Hassan Bajoulvand of Iran taking silver and Alvaro del Amo Cano of Spain claiming bronze. Yao Juan of China won gold in the women’s F64 shot put, followed by Arelle Middleton of USA and Yang Yue of China. Safia Djelal of Algeria clinched gold in the women’s F57 shot put with a Paralympic record of 11.56m, while Clara Fuentes of Venezuela set a Paralympic record of 124kg to win gold in the women’s up to 50kg powerlifting.
In the men’s F11 discus, Hassan Bajoulvand of Iran led with 47.75, while in the powerlifting event, Olivia Broome of GB took silver with a lift of 119kg. Florian Jouanny of France won gold in the men’s H1-2 road race, and Maria Pomazan of Ukraine won gold in the women’s F35 shot put.
In table tennis, Bly Twomey of Great Britain secured a bronze medal, while Lauren Parker of Australia claimed gold in the women’s H1-4 road race. The women’s T38 long jump was won by Luka Ekler of Hungary, with Nele Moos of Germany taking silver and Karen Moreno of Colombia securing bronze.
Various other events, including swimming, athletics, basketball, and more, took place on day eight of the Paralympics in 2024. The day was filled with incredible performances, records broken, and inspiring moments from athletes around the world.
