Daily News: Los Angeles to Open Five Cooling Centers

The city of Los Angeles has announced plans to open cooling centers this week in response to the sweltering temperatures. The air-conditioned spaces will be free and open to pets, providing temporary relief for residents struggling with the heat. Five cooling centers will be operating from September 3 to September 6, offering a respite from the high temperatures. In addition to the cooling centers, public libraries are also available for cooling and shelter. Mayor Karen Bass’ office stated that residents on Skid Row will have access to cold beverages, seating, and shade at designated stations. The ReFresh Spot on Towne Ave. will be open 24/7 for those seeking relief from the heat. The public is advised to take preventive measures to avoid heat-related health issues. With temperatures continuing to rise, residents are encouraged to utilize these resources to stay safe and cool during the heatwave.
