Israel-Gaza conflict updates: Israel’s labor court shortens general strike duration

Israel’s labour court has ordered that the general strike, launched by Histadrut, end earlier than originally planned at 14:30 local time. The strike was initially set to end at 18:00 local time. In other news, two people were killed in a Lebanese strike attributed to Israel, with reports stating the car belonged to a UN-contracted company. Tensions continue to rise as there has been near-daily cross-border fire between Hamas ally Hezbollah and the Israeli army since the conflict began.

In Tel Aviv, protesters are demonstrating for the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. The mood in Tel Aviv is described as “bitterly realistic,” as the strike does not seem to be as powerful as expected. The death toll in Gaza continues to rise, with over 40,786 Palestinians killed and 94,224 injured since the conflict began.

In response to the discovery of six hostages’ bodies, Israel’s Foreign Minister, Israel Katz, has vowed to respond with “full force.” Hamas’ armed wing has claimed responsibility for attacks in the West Bank, injuring three Israelis. As tensions escalate, stakeholders on both sides are preparing for potential retaliation and further conflict.

Overall, the situation in Israel remains tense and volatile, with ongoing protests, strikes, and escalating violence threatening to further destabilize the region.
