In the second game of the series, Shohei Ohtani led off with a home run, quickly followed by Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs. Despite an early deficit, the Dodgers fought back to secure an 8-6 victory.
Gavin Stone, the Dodgers’ starting pitcher, struggled in the first inning but managed to settle down and retire 12 of the next 13 batters. However, his pitch count was high, and he was replaced by Brent Honeywell in the seventh inning, who ultimately gave up the tying run.
The Dodgers loaded the bases in the seventh and eighth innings but failed to score. It wasn’t until the ninth inning that they broke the tie, with Tommy Edman delivering a two-run single to secure the victory.
With a guaranteed split of the series and a six-game lead over both the Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, the Dodgers are in a strong position as they head into the next two games of the series. Despite the chaos and high-scoring affairs, the Dodgers have shown resilience and maintained their position at the top of the NL West standings.
