Daily News: Clayton Kershaw placed back on Injured List due to bone spur in his left foot

Clayton Kershaw has been placed on the Injured List due to a bone spur in his left foot. The veteran left-hander left his start against the Diamondbacks on Friday due to the pain in his toe. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed that Kershaw has been dealing with the injury for a couple of years. It is hoped that he will be back in the rotation after the 15-day minimum period on the IL. Roberts did not comment on Kershaw’s postseason roster spot being in jeopardy. The bullpen had to cover eight innings in relief after Kershaw’s early exit on Friday.

In the meantime, the Dodgers have made roster moves to address the pitching concerns. Right-hander Ben Casparius has been added to the active roster, while Brent Honeywell Jr. has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Left-hander Justin Wrobleski is also set to join the team, starting against the Diamondbacks. Reliever Brusdar Graterol is set to start a rehab assignment in Oklahoma City after missing most of the season with a shoulder injury.

On a different note, catcher Will Smith has been struggling at the plate recently, hitting just .171 in his last 34 games. Despite this, Roberts sees positive signs in his recent at-bats and is confident he will bounce back. The Dodgers will face the Diamondbacks on Sunday, with Justin Wrobleski starting for the Dodgers and Brandon Pfaadt for the Diamondbacks.
