Woman wounds six passengers in Siegen bus stabbing incident in western Germany

A 32-year-old German woman has stabbed and injured six people on a bus in the city of Siegen, Germany. Despite the severity of the attack, local police are stating that there are no indications it was an act of terrorism. At least 40 people were on the bus at the time of the incident, with three of the victims sustaining life-threatening injuries.

This attack comes just a week after another deadly knife attack in Solingen that resulted in three deaths and eight serious injuries. The suspect in the Solingen attack was a 26-year-old Syrian national who was facing deportation after his asylum application had been rejected.

In response to these recent violent incidents, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government has implemented new restrictions on carrying knives in public places. Additionally, criminals who have been convicted are now being deported back to Afghanistan for the first time since the Taliban regained control in 2021.

Local authorities are currently working to establish a motive for the bus attack in Siegen and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The German public is on high alert following these violent events, and efforts are being made to ensure the safety of citizens in public spaces.
