Aron McKillips, a member of the anti-government extremist “boogaloo” movement in Ohio, has been sentenced to over three years in prison for threatening to kill law enforcement officers. McKillips was arrested in 2022 for threatening a police officer online and was found to be in possession of a machine gun part that allowed AR-style rifles to fire fully automatic. He pleaded guilty to interstate communication of threats and unlawful possession of a machine gun, and was sentenced to 41 months in prison.
McKillips, now 30, was a well-known member of the “Boogaloo Boys” movement, which advocates for a second civil war and violence against law enforcement. Members of this movement have been involved in threats to police officers and attacks on law enforcement, including the fatal shooting of a federal officer in 2020 in Oakland, California.
The machine gun part that McKillips possessed, known as a “drop-in auto sear,” allows a rifle to fire fully automatic. McKillips had given at least three of these parts to other members of the “boogaloo” movement, according to a confidential source cited by the FBI. An auto sear is considered a machine gun by the ATF.
An attorney representing McKillips did not provide immediate comment on the sentencing.
