Angels Extend Losing Streak to Seven Games with Loss to Tigers

The Detroit Tigers extended their winning streak to six games with a 3-2 victory over the Angels on Wednesday night, fueled by a two-run home run from Spencer Torkelson and an RBI single from Kerry Carpenter. The Tigers, now two games over .500, have not been in this position since May. The Angels, on the other hand, lost their seventh straight game and have dropped 13 of their last 15.

Tigers opener Mason Englert pitched two scoreless innings before Kenta Maeda took over and gave up two unearned runs over 4-1/3 innings. Beau Brieske and Jason Foley combined to preserve the lead for the Tigers.

Angels starter Griffin Canning took the loss, allowing three runs in five innings. He has struggled, going 1-5 in his last 10 outings. Torkelson’s home run and Carpenter’s RBI single were enough to give the Tigers the lead, and Mickey Moniak’s homer for the Angels in the sixth wasn’t enough to catch up.

The game was delayed by rain for nearly two hours, but the teams were eventually able to start the game. The victory puts the Tigers in a strong position as they continue their winning streak and look to climb in the standings.
