Orioles stifle Dodgers’ offense in opening game loss – Daily News

In a battle of two teams plagued by pitching injuries, the Los Angeles Dodgers fell to the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in the opener of a three-game series. The Dodgers have had eight different pitchers on the injured list this season, including key starters Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The Orioles have also dealt with their own share of injuries, with five pitchers, including Grayson Rodriguez and John Means, sidelined.

Despite the loss, the Dodgers still hold a three-game lead in the National League West over the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks. The Orioles got the better of Dodgers newcomer John Flaherty, who allowed three runs in six innings.

The Dodgers offense, which had been averaging 5.1 runs per game since Mookie Betts returned from injury, managed just two runs on seven hits in the loss. Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez drove in the Dodgers’ only runs of the game.

The Orioles took the lead on a two-run home run by Ramon Urias, which came in response to a solo home run by Ryan O’Hearn off Flaherty. The Dodgers had opportunities to tie the game late but failed to capitalize, finishing the game 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position.

The loss was just the fifth in the Dodgers’ past 17 games, but it highlighted the team’s struggles on both the pitching and offensive side. With key players still on the injured list, the Dodgers will need to regroup as they continue their push for a division title. Stay tuned for more updates as the series against the Orioles unfolds.
