Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will be sitting down for their first joint TV interview as the 2024 Democratic presidential ticket with CNN’s Dana Bash on Thursday. The interview will air at 9 p.m. Eastern and 6 p.m. Pacific. Harris has not done a formal press interview since President Biden dropped out of the race in July and endorsed her as his replacement.
Harris and Walz will be embarking on a bus tour through Georgia, a swing state, and the interview will mark the beginning of their campaign together. The selection of Dana Bash as the interviewer comes after her role in moderating the June presidential debate between Trump and Biden, where she received praise for her even-handed approach.
Harris has recently been speaking on behalf of the Biden administration and her robust defense of Biden following the debate likely led to her being chosen as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Since then, she has only answered a few reporter questions and has not held a formal news conference.
Harris is coming off a successful Democratic National Convention and has improved her standing in the polls against Trump. She and Trump are scheduled to meet in a debate on September 10 in Philadelphia, which will be hosted by ABC News and shared with other broadcast and cable outlets.
