Kamala Harris embarks on rural bus tour in battleground state of Georgia – Daily News

Kamala Harris embarked on a campaign bus tour through rural southern Georgia in an effort to energize supporters and secure votes in the crucial battleground state. The tour marks the first time a Democratic presidential campaign has visited this region since Bill Clinton in 1992. With 16 electoral votes at stake, both parties are vying for a win in Georgia, especially after Biden’s narrow victory in 2020.

During the tour, Harris will target a diverse coalition of voters, including Black voters and working-class families, with a large proportion of rural, suburban, and urban Georgians. Vice presidential nominee Tim Walz joined Harris on the tour, aiming to appeal to rural voters nationwide with his rural background and folksy persona.

Harris plans to appear alongside President Biden in Detroit and Pittsburgh on Labor Day, with the election just over 70 days away. The campaign strategy also includes visits to other battleground states, such as North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada. Harris’s team is focused on securing the 270 votes needed to win the Electoral College, while Trump’s campaign considers Georgia a must-win state in 2024.

The tour aims to boost support for the Democratic ticket and solidify their presence in key battleground states as the race for the presidency intensifies. The upcoming joint interview on CNN and continued campaign efforts highlight the importance of securing votes in swing states to secure victory in November.
