The FBI has revealed new details regarding the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, stating that the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had searched online for events involving both Trump and President Joe Biden. Crooks saw the Pennsylvania campaign rally where he opened fire as a “target of opportunity” after conducting extensive research for an attack. The shooter was ultimately killed by a Secret Service countersniper.
FBI officials, who have conducted nearly 1,000 interviews as part of the investigation, have not yet uncovered a motive for the July 13 attack in Butler, Pennsylvania. Special Agent in Charge Kevin Rojek stated that while they have a clear idea of Crooks’ mindset, they are not ready to make any conclusive statements regarding his motive at this time.
