Golden Valley Football Starts Season Strong with 19-14 Win Over Westlake
In the season opener, the Golden Valley football team secured a 19-14 victory against Westlake, aiming to improve upon last year’s 3-7 record. Running back Jamison Torres stood out with 141 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense made a strong showing with five sacks on Westlake’s quarterback, Caden Atkinson.
The game started slowly offensively, with the first score coming in the second quarter on a run by Anthony Seragusa. Torres added a touchdown to extend Golden Valley’s lead to 13-0. Despite Westlake cutting the lead to 13-7 just before halftime, Golden Valley maintained control throughout the game.
Coach Dan Kelley praised the team’s defensive effort and emphasized the importance of the win as they move forward in the season. Westlake, with a new head coach in Carnell Henderson, showed resilience but ultimately fell short in their efforts.
Quarterback Brandon Contreras and receiver Anthony Seragusa also made key contributions to Golden Valley’s victory. Moving forward, Golden Valley will face Antelope Valley on the road, while Westlake will take on Agoura at home.
Despite a close game, Golden Valley emerged victorious and set a positive tone for the season ahead. Torres’ impressive performance and the team’s solid defensive showing bode well for their future success on the football field.
