Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to give a campaign speech on Friday in Phoenix, addressing his future in the 2024 election. His running mate, Nicole Shanahan, revealed that the campaign is considering either staying in the race and risking a Harris-Walz presidency or dropping out to support Donald Trump. Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, mentioned that there has been communication between the Kennedy campaign and Trump’s, with an offer of no promises of a Cabinet position in exchange for support.
Kennedy has been facing challenges on the campaign trail, including decreased public appearances, low polling numbers, and financial troubles, with the campaign closing July with nearly $3.5 million in debt. Additionally, he was disqualified from the ballot in New York due to residency issues.
Kennedy’s campaign has been marred by negative stories, including allegations of groping by a former family babysitter and a strange incident involving a bear carcass in Central Park. Kennedy did not directly address the groping allegations in a recent interview but acknowledged his tumultuous past.
Despite the setbacks, Trump expressed his admiration for Kennedy and his willingness to consider offering him a position in his administration if elected. The events of Friday, with both Kennedy and Trump hosting separate events in the Phoenix area, will likely shed more light on the future of Kennedy’s campaign.
