Girls flag football is set to kick off in the Santa Clarita Valley this week, with three new teams – Valencia, West Ranch, and Hart – playing their first games. These teams will be joined by Vasquez to form a four-team alignment in the Foothill League, as the sport enters its second year as an official sport in the CIF Southern Section and L.A. City Section.

Valencia will start their inaugural flag football season with three games this week, with head coach Jeff Albert emphasizing the importance of making plays, playing fast, and scoring touchdowns. West Ranch and Hart are also gearing up for their first games, with coaches Mark Hornberger and Josh Masmela expressing excitement for the challenges ahead.

In addition to the SCV teams, other notable matchups include San Fernando facing off against Palmdale and Valor Academy, Verdugo Hills taking on Sherman Oaks CES, Newbury Park playing against Ventura, and Simi Valley going up against Moorpark. Teams like Newbury Park will be looking to capture the Marmonte League title after finishing in second place last season.
