The convention, which will take place at McCormick Place and the United Center, is expected to draw thousands of delegates, media members, and protesters. A-list celebrities and political figures like former President Barack Obama are also likely to make appearances.
Protest plans include a designated route for protesters and a “free speech zone” near the United Center. Televised coverage will be available on cable news channels, social media, and streaming services, with “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and “The Daily Show” set to broadcast live from Chicago during the convention.
Chicago has a history of hosting political conventions, with 25 major party conventions held in the city since 1860. The Democratic National Convention promises to be a significant event for Democrats as they rally around Harris and prepare for the upcoming presidential election in November.
