Authorities report that bystanders prevented Michigan man from kidnapping girls in 2 separate incidents

Two separate incidents of attempted kidnappings of young girls were thwarted by bystanders in Michigan on Tuesday afternoon. In the first incident, Endi Bala, 23, allegedly tried to force a 15-year-old girl into his car in Clinton Township, but a bystander physically intervened, allowing the girl to escape. Bala fled the scene but was later arrested after attempting to kidnap a 7-year-old girl in Sterling Heights. In this incident, the girl’s aunt intervened, fighting Bala to save her niece from being forced into his car. Bala was charged with kidnapping, reckless driving, and assault and battery in the Sterling Heights incident, and attempted unlawful imprisonment and assault and battery in the Clinton Township incident. He was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and has upcoming court hearings in both cases. Despite the traumatic experience, the girls involved are said to be coping well. The heroic actions of the bystanders, including Paul Billiter and Alecia Swejkoski, saved the girls from potential harm and have been commended by law enforcement. The incidents serve as a reminder for parents to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on their children to prevent similar situations.
