Angel City Football Club is set to return home to BMO Stadium on Sunday after their last game on July 6. They will face FC Juarez from Liga MX Femenil in a friendly match as a tune-up before NWSL play resumes next week. Angel City finished first in Group B of the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup and advanced to the semifinals but lost to Gotham FC. The team welcomed back star forward Christen Press, who made appearances in the last two games after missing time due to injury.
Coach Becki Tweed praised the togetherness and joy of the team during the Summer Cup and emphasized allowing players to be their best selves on the field. FC Juarez, currently in 11th place in the Liga MX standings, features five players with ties to Southern California.
After the friendly match, Angel City will focus on the final stretch of the NWSL season as they aim for a playoff spot. With a new signing, Katie Zelem, set to join training early next week, the team is gearing up for the remaining 10 games. They will face San Diego Wave FC on August 24 at Snapdragon Stadium.
The game between FC Juarez and Angel City FC is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sunday at BMO Stadium and will be available to watch on DAZN. Teams will have unlimited substitutions and can dress 23 active players for the match. Angel City is currently in 11th place in the standings but is just three points behind the final playoff spot.
