Music industry mogul Jimmy Iovine is giving back to the Los Angeles community by teaming up with rapper and producer Dr. Dre to open a public high school in Inglewood. The Iovine and Young Center Inglewood will focus on interdisciplinary studies and aim to empower underserved students to reach their full potential. The exact location of the school is still being determined, but the first ninth-grade cohort is set to begin in fall 2025, with a new class being added each year until all grade levels are included by the 2028-29 school year.
The school will offer a curriculum that combines traditional classes with hands-on real-world problem-solving opportunities. Students will have the chance to work on projects, present their innovations to industry experts, and develop solutions to social problems, fostering critical thinking and innovation.
