Russia has moved extra tanks, artillery, and rocket systems to its southern Kursk region amidst an incursion by Ukraine’s military. Footage has emerged showing Ukrainian forces in control of a town near the border, with evidence of Russian military trucks burnt out and containing dead bodies. The conflict has caused some damage to a power substation near one of Russia’s largest nuclear power stations.
The International Atomic Energy Agency has urged both sides to show restraint given the proximity of the conflict to the nuclear station. Russia has imposed anti-terrorism measures in border areas in response to what they call Ukraine’s attempt to destabilize the region. The Ukrainian military has advanced into Russian territory in a surprise move that caught the Russian military off guard.

The situation remains tense as both sides continue to engage in the conflict.
