Inglewood Prohibits Stages on SoFi Stadium Plaza Due to Noise Complaints from South Bay Residents After Hard Summer Event – Daily News

Inglewood has decided to ban stages in the American Airlines Plaza following complaints about sound disturbances during the Hard Summer music festival at SoFi Stadium and the YouTube Theater. Mayor James T. Butts Jr. said the booming bass from the festival perplexed city officials, as previous outdoor concerts at the SoFi campus had not caused issues. The disturbance was attributed to specific bass frequencies common in electronic dance music, leading to the decision to no longer permit stages in the elevated plaza area.

Butts emphasized the city’s commitment to improving event management practices, thanking the community for their feedback and patience. The decision came after residents in neighboring cities like El Segundo, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Hawthorne reported noise complaints from the festival. Inglewood officials apologized for the disturbance and pledged to work closely with neighboring cities to prevent future occurrences.

Hard Summer made adjustments to the stages and had sound engineers on hand to address the noise on the second night of the event, resulting in a decrease in complaints. Moving forward, Inglewood plans to implement stricter sound management practices for future events to minimize the impact on surrounding communities. Mayor Butts acknowledged the need for better monitoring and supervision of event organizers to address sound and vibration concerns outside the venue. The city is committed to maintaining high standards as a hub for sports and entertainment while prioritizing the well-being of residents in the region.
