On Tuesday night, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck near Mettler, an unincorporated area in Kern County, about 85 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Despite shaking a large swath of Southern California, no immediate reports of damage were received. Authorities in Los Angeles and other affected communities were checking for any damage to infrastructure. The earthquake was even felt at Dodger Stadium during a baseball game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, but the crowd did not react noticeably. The Kern County Fire Department announced that firefighters in the area would be surveying their districts for any potential damage.
