A man was fatally shot by at least one deputy in Paramount on Sunday night after allegedly advancing towards them with a pair of scissors. The incident occurred following a report of a family disturbance and battery on Quimby Street. Deputies attempted to use a Taser on the man, but it was unsuccessful. The man continued to advance towards the deputies, prompting them to shoot him. Despite efforts by firefighters, the man died at the scene. The victim of the battery incident, who was the man’s father, reported that his son had punched him in the face during an argument. The man, who has not been publicly identified by the medical examiner’s office, was said to be 30 years old. The Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is investigating the incident and has asked anyone with information to come forward. Anonymous tipsters can provide information through Crime Stoppers.
