Jake Cave hit a tying two-run home run in the ninth inning and the Colorado Rockies scored on an error in the 10th to beat the Angels 5-4. The win came after closer Carlos Estevez was traded to the Phillies. Michael Toglia also contributed with a two-run homer. The Rockies have now won consecutive games after a five-game losing streak and are performing well post-All-Star break.
Manager Bud Black praised the team’s performance, calling the victory a good one. The Angels, on the other hand, have lost five of their last seven games. Logan O’Hoppe and Mickey Moniak hit home runs for the Angels, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
With Jacob Stallings at second base in the 10th inning, an error by Angels’ pitcher Hans Crouse allowed Sam Hilliard to score the go-ahead run for the Rockies. Colorado pitcher Ryan Feltner gave up three runs over six innings, while Tyler Kinley recorded his sixth save in the 10th inning.
Despite a strong performance, Feltner has not been able to secure a win in his last seven starts. Luis Rengifo of the Angels was out of the lineup due to a wrist injury. Rockies’ manager Black is pleased with the team’s current form and hopes to maintain their winning streak as they head towards San Diego. The Rockies will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming games.
