Long Beach is currently hosting the Midsummer Scream Halloween and Horror Convention, drawing in a record 50,000 fans of the macabre to the Long Beach Convention Center. The event, in its 7th year, features a scary movie festival, panel discussions, a marketplace selling horror-related goods, and a Black Cat lounge where attendees can see and adopt cats. Professional and amateur haunt creators have set up walk-through horror mazes in the Hall of Shadows, offering terrifying experiences with actors and special effects.
The convention also includes special appearances by horror legends such as Cassandra Peterson (Elvira, Mistress of the Dark), David Dastmalchian, and Tony Todd, known for his role in “Candyman.” Attendees can enjoy entertainment like magician performances, costume makeup demonstrations, and a variety of masks and props available for purchase. A highlight of this year’s event is a new maze by Lionsgate called “The Gears of Fear,” featuring themes from the production company’s films.
Doors opened at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday for this year’s Midsummer Scream convention. Fans are flocking to Long Beach for this horror-filled weekend, immersing themselves in the spooky atmosphere and enjoying all the creepy delights the convention has to offer.
