SNCF train services expected to return to normal soon, despite delays

French railway company SNCF has made progress in partially restoring high-speed train services after Friday’s coordinated arson attacks that disrupted three major rail lines ahead of the Olympic Games opening ceremony. According to Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete, traffic on France’s rail network is expected to be fully restored by Monday.

SNCF reported that its agents worked overnight in adverse weather conditions to improve TGV traffic from the north, east, and west to Paris. Normal service had resumed on the Eastern high-speed line as of Saturday morning. However, disruptions are expected to continue on the North axis on Sunday, with improvements on the Atlantic axis for weekend returns.

Customers are being contacted via text message and email to confirm the running of their trains. Despite the disruptions, SNCF assured that all transportation for Olympic teams and accredited personnel will be maintained as planned.

The sabotage incidents have raised concerns about security as Paris hosts the Olympics. French authorities are actively investigating the attacks, but so far, no suspects have been identified or apprehended. This news comes as the world eagerly anticipates the start of the Olympic Games and hopes for a successful and safe event.
