Lady Gaga took the stage at the Olympic opening ceremony

Lady Gaga opened the Paris Olympics with a performance of “Mon Truc En Plumes” by Zizi Jeanmaire, surrounded by pink feathers reminiscent of her Jazz and Piano residency in Vegas. Céline Dion was also rumored to perform “L’Hymne à l’amour” by Édith Piaf. Both singers were spotted in Paris ahead of the ceremony. This would be Dion’s first live performance since being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022. Aya Nakamura, a popular French artist, also performed at the ceremony. The event, held along the Seine River, is the first to take place outside of a stadium and is considered one of the most ambitious to date, with artistic direction by Thomas Jolly. During the event, Nakamura faced racist attacks following reports that she met with President Emmanuel Macron. The organizers of the Olympics came to her defense at the time. Lady Gaga’s performance was well-received, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the rest of the night’s events.
