Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation has been deemed delinquent by the California Registry of Charities and Fundraisers due to a failure to submit an annual report and pay registration fees. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been instructed to stop soliciting or spending for their charitable organization until the issue is resolved. The delinquency notice was issued on May 3 by California Attorney General Rob Bonta, highlighting the consequences for non-compliance, including potential penalties, suspension, or revocation of registration.
The foundation, established in 2020 by the royal couple after stepping down as working members of the royal family, aims to “show up, do good” by uplifting and uniting communities through acts of service and compassion. A representative of the foundation explained that the delinquency was likely a result of a check for registration fees getting lost in the mail. They resubmitted the required paperwork and payment via tracked mail, expecting the matter to be resolved shortly.
Despite this setback, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to be involved in various philanthropic endeavors, including the launch of Sussex.com as a centralized platform for updates on their initiatives. The website connects visitors to the Archewell Foundation, Archewell Productions, and their previous Sussex Royal website. The couple remains committed to making a positive impact through their foundation, even as they navigate challenges like the recent delinquency notice.
